Vounteer in Musoma
Located in northern Tanzania near Lake Victoria, Musoma offers a chance to make a real impact through community-driven projects. Volunteers work on health, education, and infrastructure initiatives, helping improve lives in this beautiful, rural area. Surrounded by lush landscapes and the Serengeti, Musoma provides a rewarding and immersive volunteer experience.
Environment
Musoma is an inland location in northern Tanzania, situated in the Mara region near Lake Victoria and not far from the Serengeti. The landscape is lush and rural with Lake Victoria’s shoreline and rolling scenery. Our founder Graham has been working in Musoma with volunteers for 30 years.
Accommodation
Eagle Lodge is our welcoming home base in Musoma. A secure compound with a relaxed, family feel. Volunteers stay in shared dormitories of varying sizes (from 2 to 8 beds), with access to clean facilities and communal spaces. Our wonderful cook, Pendo, prepares delicious and comforting European-style meals each day, served in a large dining area where everyone gathers to eat and catch up. Upstairs, you’ll find a communal lounge and balcony — the perfect spot to watch a film on the projector, read, play cards, or just unwind after a full day of volunteering. And you won’t be alone - Eagle Lodge is also home to our two friendly dogs, Coffee and Pudding, who love to be part of the action.
There are a wide variety of projects to get involved in from building water tanks, goat sheds and pit latrines, do weekly hospital runs, care for the sick, get involved in community health awareness days, teaching health education in villages or helping local business initiatives. We also have a tree planting initiative which you can get involved in.
All our volunteers find the work really fulfilling and feel that they have made a difference and saved lives. We have also had lots of families travel to Tanzania with us and they have enjoyed working together.
“Musoma is a beautiful place, situated right by Lake Victoria. You will be part of a big team living and working together in the local communities”
